I have always wanted my own restaurant - I’m sure it’s what most chefs dream of, but I never thought it would happen; finding investors in this industry is tough.
At the beginning of 2016, my wife Rhiain and I decided to take the plunge and try to raise the funds we needed by launching a crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter. I quit my job, we put all our savings in and we went for it. After an emotional ‘all or nothing’ funding drive, where we spent a month panicking over whether it would work or not, we completed the project successfully and raised just over £100,000. With the additional help of some investors, my dream was set to become a reality.
After a year of searching for the right venue, a few disappointments and a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, we found this amazing site on Church Street in Stratford-upon-Avon. On 18th March 2017, we opened the doors of Salt; a fine dining restaurant using the best produce, served in a relaxed atmosphere where you can sit back, relax and enjoy your dining experience.
